Born in Sassari in 1885, he trained in Rome. He enrolled in the Faculty of Engineering, interrupting his studies to enter the Scuola Libera del Nudo at the Academy of Fine Arts. Here he met Melli and Balla and subsequently came into contact with Boccioni and Severini. In 1905-1906 he lived in Milan and from 1908 to 1911 he stayed in Paris and in Germany.
