Artist
Born in Città di Castello in 1915, Alberto Burri was a medical officer during the Second World War. He was captured by the Allies in 1943 and transferred to the Hereford concentration camp, Texas, where he began to paint. Returning to Italy in 1946, he settled in Rome and devoted himself to painting, participating in the foundation of the Gruppo Origine in 1951.
