Galleria dello Scudo, founded in 1968, continues its exhibiting policy focused on modern and contemporary Italian art, proposing for the next edition of Art Basel a selection of artists chosen amongst the main exponents of abstract art in the second half of the 20th century.
Some of the works on display are worth mentioning: Carla Accardi, with a huge Integrazione exhibited in the solo show at the 1964 Venice Biennale; Alberto Burri, an absolutely unique author within the international artistic milieu who, by engraving and excavating the artwork surface, opened new fields of investigation on matter; Marino Marini, with Piccolo miracolo, investigating the perennial struggle between horse and rider in an exemplary way; Emilio Vedova, with an astonishing masterpiece of extraordinary expressive power.
