Galleria dello Scudo presents a unique mash up between Luigi Ontani’s work and ancient art. Three large ceramic sculptures inspired by subjects widely dealt with by classical art – the philosopher, the artist and Saint Sebastian – are placed in a dialogue with paintings by 17th century Italian masters, to which they can be compared on the basis of thematic analogy. The contemporary crosses the centuries, demonstrating how the attentive and sensitive viewer can grasp insights and timeless symbolism.
